Plettenberg bay to Oudtschoorn

For no particular reason I wanted to go see some ostriches, so after an early breakfast we departed Plet and headed for Oudtschoorn
This of course took us up the Prince Alfred’s pass, with some further sublime views (after an initial false start where we took a wrong turn into a township)

(as much as this clearly gave pants a coronary, it was a Sunday, everyone was off to church and i thought it was rather a nice atmosphere)

Water holes which I'm sure would be amazing for swimming in the correct season

We were staying at another country house hotel, this time Altes Landhaus at Schoemanschoek, approx 14km north of Oudtschoorn (https://www.alteslandhaus.com)
Embarrasingly we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite (we are absolutely not honeymooners ), although it was so nice we ended up staying for a 2nd night anyway
The free sherry was especially appreciated

What is with the toilet seats being left up once cleaned around here?!

Pants needed to rest so a fairly pedestrian evening eating at the hotel restaurant- I went for the Ostrich carpaccio which was as it should be
[unfortunately photo will not upload]
The GM (who I originally assumed must be the owner) was a top bloke, very helpful with vast quantities of wine (and even managed to find me a chardonnay that didn't taste like distilled bin juice), was also good enough to help us out with a touring plan for the next day
