The Preferred MC is a semi-discontinued card, so even though you did the conversion voluntarily, that may be a special case that's closer to forced conversion.

So I wouldn't assume that any voluntary conversion of a still-fully-active TYP card to another still-fully-active TYP card that gets a card number change doesn't count as a closure, until/unless we get datapoints specifically on that.
