No, the due diligence was actually phoning up Virgin Flying Club, before transferring the miles from Amex, to confirm that the routing was bookable and getting the booking confirmed and put on hold with a miles and taxes quote and confirmation number and being told I had 24 hours to pay for it. I don't know what more I could do to confirm it was bookable before transferring the miles.
