Are there any data points that buying up to E+ post-booking will either a) give you a better chance at a further buy up offer at check in to J or PP, or b) give you better buy up pricing to those cabins from E+?

I would guess no to both, because E+ fee will be refunded if you take the offers and E+ access does not change the fare class or ticket in any way. It is just an access fee for some and UA elites get it for free.

Additionally, most pre-check-in upgrade offers can be traced back to fare differential and E+ access does not change the fare
