I'm starting to wonder why he stayed until age 70 - he must have genuinely liked the job.
What I'd like to see is an interview of him recounting the early days, how they dealt with the Gulf War and other geopolitical crises of the day. These were mostly pre-internet so there is very little info online.
I would venture that multiple publishing houses are/will be bidding for his memoirs (which I would definitely read!).
