But you're confusing fare with fare class. S and L are low fare classes, but Comfort is a high brand. You opted to give AC more money than you had to at the time of purchase, and they reward you for that with various benefits.
Thanks for your response I realise that but only because it is so darn confusing to me at least. Just to confuse things even more AC has a really annoying habit of changing our routing multiple times and sneaking in chnges when they do so. I guess the lesson is that if we wish to maximize our MP status we need to keep our AC segments to the barest minimum.
