Want to buy upgrade to First, but looks oversold

I currently have a paid seat in Y (30 C on 757-200). STT-EWR Dec 27
Paid upgrades are being sold for first but all the seats are blocked, which makes me assume first is oversold. I’m aware that at least one of the seats are for crew rest. I’m wondering if I buy the upgrade, do I run the risk of getting bumped back to economy? My concern is being kicked back to a middle seat.
