I explained that our Panera wasn't really set up that way, cashiers go quickly from one person to the next and would not wait while I called an 800 number. They then told me I should either try other Paneras or the other stores listed on the gift card. After a little more talking about how I shouldn't have to go to a place or store I don't want to to use the card they agreed to send me the full values in a check. I guess I really don't know if it works at Panera since I can't use it for anything. At Noodles and Company I can buy food, no gift cards, or no combined gift cards and food. I might try again next promo
Not only does this sound like a card with limited functionality due to category restriction, but also indeterminate acceptance at stores within the specified category.

I would steer away from buying these cards for any reason. Who wants to have to figure out which store in which town is going to accept them.
