The simple solution is... if you don't like a consumer practice, change your IT. Stop it in its tracks... don't let your IT allow it happen. AA loves to blame others for their bad IT (as we've seen in prior corporate security investigations made public here), and whether this was Citi or AA's primary responsibility, the more I read and think about this, the more unfair it seems to the consumer.
As other posters have mentioned, the timing is curious... taking millions of miles off the books at once could certainly have financial impact. Really not liking AA's behavior here the more I consider it.
