AA gives sign up bonuses for all of these products, and I’m sure many have gotten all of them. I also doubt these customers have been shut down. It is those that have gotten multiple Platinum cards
And to add... if there was no legit reason to have more than one card, the CC companies would limit you to one card. But, as others have stated, different cards, different benefits.

Would the latter be “wrong”? Because both are affected.

The whole issue here is we don’t know what AA’s criteria is...
I think those that have been shutdown know they were doing something wrong.

I do not believe any 'innocents' have had their accounts terminated. No evidence to back that up, just logic. Why would AA want to terminate (good) customers who didn't do anything? Losing customers costs AA money.

I would think it has to be something significant. 3 SUBs for the same card or greater... AA would want this process locked up tight if DOT or a lawyer moved into a discovery phase of a lawsuit or gov't investigation. AA would not want to arbitrarily shut down an account of a 'bored' lawyer. It could open up a can of worms that it could not close. Even the discovery could be problematic. (BTW - I hope they do piss off a 'bored' lawyer. It could be a game-changer. )
