Small sample size but I had a flight mco > dtw > iad. Flight out of mco had mechanical issue so go into dtw late enough i got to my gate for iad as they pulled the jetway back. They automatically lut me kn a crj the next morning but I called the gold line at the time for options and got changed to a dtw to iad flight leaving in an hour. They asked for a description of my checked bag found it and put it on my flight. They obviously didn’t have enough time either to move it to the iad flight.

btw I was very unimpressed with the sky club. I thought one of their roles was to help with issues like this. They basically said you are on a flight tomorrow I told them I wanted options and they said none you are on a flight tomorrow so I had to call for real help.
