Checked baggage allowance - Stopover

Hi All,

A bit confused

I am about to do a EDI-LHR then stopover for 2 nights in London before going to the States. It is a Avios redemption with the domestic leg in J and the lh leg in F.

It has been a long time since I tried to "maximise my allowance" but I had always understood if you were doing a domestic connection onto an F flight that the domestic leg qualified for the same 3 x 32KG allowance that the F leg qualified for.

However, reading the BA website (http://britishairways.com/en-gb/info...ge-allowances#) it states that because this is a Stopover in LHR as opposed to a Connection I only get the J Checked bag allowance. I have not had this issue before but I usually do a straight connection.

If you include a stopover, for example you fly from London to Singapore in Club World and then continue at a later date from Singapore to Sydney in World Traveller, the separate baggage allowances for each cabin will apply.

When you fly in more than one cabin on a connecting journey, the baggage allowance for the most significant sector will apply to the whole journey, which is usually the longest flight.

Example

If you fly from Dubai to London in Club World and then connect from London to Rome in Euro Traveller, each flight will have a different baggage allowance. You will be given the baggage allowance for the longest flight which is the Dubai, Club World sector for the whole of your connecting journey.
I have already done OLCI and declared 3 bags each and it did not say I was over allowance. Also MMB states that the EDI-LHR leg qualifies for 3x32kg checked bags.

Any help appreciated.
