I hope you are right and will see what happens at check in, we probably need to check in twice, UTH first then BKK, don't think there is CIQ from UTH, that will increase risk for issues....
3K baht is expensive for a one letter in a first name on a 23k per pax ticket, for 1k I would not hesitate.
