If I cancel a US-Europe mileage upgraded (both legs, Economy to Business) ticket, what do I get back? Total value of the round-trip ticket have the following components. Which ones are protected (I am EP and will be EP next year, if that matters)? If I cancel the ticket, I plan to apply the residual value towards another trip sometime next year.
(1) Price paid for the original Economy ticket.
(2) 25,000 + 25,000 = 50,000 miles.
(3) $350 + $350 = $700 copay.
(4) Luxury tax collected for the Europe-US return ticket.
Regarding (1): The original Economy ticket was a non-refundable fare. So, in case of no upgrade, there will be a change fee associated with it. But a new ticket has been issued after the mileage upgrade. So I am not sure what happens in this case.
According to the following AA site, it seems the copay is not refundable. But I am not sure if I understood it correctly. It says nothing about the other components of the net value of the ticket.

Any thought?
