Stayed at this property for the first time last week. I usually stay at the Hilton or the HGI whichever is cheaper at the airport but when I tried to book about 7 weeks earlier they were both charging over €200 on the date I wanted.
The elevator situation hasn’t changed. Twice during the stay three people were in the elevator and only one of the cards worked. Ditto for elite recognition. When I asked about a bottle of water and a snack at check-in I was told to come back. I did and the same guy told me I should have found a voucher in my room. When I returned after double-checking to report there was no such voucher it was a different guy who asked for my room number and offered me beer, wine or soft drink and where to pick up a snack (which was obvious as I could see them). What a lot of hassle!
The shuttle to the airport runs every 30 minutes between 4:50 and 10:50, then hourly till 15:50 and every 30 minutes until 23:20. At least they now have their own branded shuttle bus tokens. If you want a seat on the shuttle it might be worth crossing the street to the Meininger rather than wait in front of the Holiday Inn.
I’ll stay here again if prices at the Hilton and HGI are unreasonable. On the night I stayed there the Hampton was charging a walk-in rate of €155, the HGI €244 and the Hilton €469! (All HH discount rates.) When the
Gateway Gardens S-Bahn station opens this weekend there will be an alternative route to/from the hotel.
