BA is certainly not selling out the majority of its Concorde flights -- except as noted on the days it flies on to Barbados, or when tied to a Cunard sailings -- since there are 100 seats on each flight. That's a lot of premium seats to sell in a soft economy. And this compares with an average of 14 First suites on each 747 or 777 flight. This means BA will be very pleased to sell QF all the seats QF is prepared to buy on our behalf as awards, even if it is at a significant discount. The real concern I have is how long QF will continue to be prepared to buy R seats, or BA to sell them at the F award price.
It will also be interesting to see how many people take advantage of the Starpoints -->QF points transfer in order to book Concorde trips. The next bunch -- those who didn't have 125K+ in their QF accounts -- should start booking in about three weeks, once the lengthy transfer period is over.
Those planning to do this trip by purchasing InsideFlyer subscriptions rather than using their already accumulated Starpoints, will have to wait until the end of April when the 2,500 point "gifts" start posting in their Starwood accounts. And then another month's wait until the conversions are posted in the QF accounts. In the meantime, I suspect there will still be a trickle of these bookings by those of us who already have well over 60K Startpoints, so we should make it in before the deluge. If there is one.
