When you can buy a laptop with battery life sufficient to watch Netflix for an entire TPAC flight for less than $300 and nearly everyone who can afford to fly has a smartphone, I think the days of screens on short flights are numbered. In the long term I wouldn't be too surprised to see them disappear--at least from Y--on long-haul flights.
Video monitors in the seatback were cool in back in the day when smartphones didn't exist and laptops were $3k machines with greyscale displays whose batteries lasted 45 minutes. Now, not so much.
