While the main text of the wiki to this thread is a little out of date in a couple of places, the general principles explained in the wiki relating to 24/72/144 hour TWOV and TWOV with entry permit, are all correct and are currently in operation.

For example the wiki explains 24 hour TWOV can be used for multiple stops within China, while the 144 hour TWOV can be used for arrivals/departures within specified regions, which include different cities.
