Whatever "rules" you read, pretty clearly you don't understand them. Please don't irritate others.

The basic rule for TWOV is to arrive and depart from/to a different country (with the SAR's incl. ROC counted as a different one, each), country A-China-country B

While there are a few special rules (like URC), in general TWOV is available for a stay within China for 24hrs. You can connect as much as you like within China during that time. Flying ZRH-PEK-PVG/SHA-CAN-TPE would be 100% compliant.

For more and more cities/regions, TWOV is available for 72hrs or 144hrs. You're required to stay within that area, but those areas can be extremely huge (like in the case of Shanghai, the two neighboring provinces are part of the 144hr TWOV areas as well, making it huge)

You can arrive in NKG and depart in PVG, just as an example, a few hundred km away from each other. FRA-NKG and PVG-SIN is 100% compliant. While staying for 144hrs+(arrival day) in any place of the 3 provinces. Like in Hangzhou.
