I've probably been to that hotel 15-20 times in the last 7-8 years and I have never seen one of those penthouse rooms even though I've asked about them a few times. They are never available when I'm there. I think I've been upgraded to the tower suites twice. Otherwise it's a tower room, or Banyan Suite when I use an SNA. (I'm Amb Elite member.)
The PH rooms are only worth it IMO if you are Diamond Head side (Premier) and in a suite. Otherwise, the base adjoining rooms aren’t anything special. You’d be better off in a Tower Premier Ocean Suite on any floor.
The only preference we have for the PH suites is the full separate bathtub and walk in shower, beautiful; whereas, the TPOS has only a walk in shower of slightly less beauty.
