From my perspective, they might as well turn it into an entitlement. It would be a customer friendly gesture (few enough of those lately), and most customers who don't use them by January 31 are not likely to use them by April 30, either.
I just mentioned the extension while trying to explain the upcoming changes to a friend of mine who has been GS for years. He never knew and is now livid. On one hand, I don’t blame him for thinking this — it really isn’t fair.
On the other, I feel far superior for knowing this secret. He’s “too busy” to read FT 😉
