I went two steps further.

First, I perused other mileposts by www.iflyswa.com beyond the four threads linked above (thanks, longing4piedmont) and found other similar mileposts, including at least one locked thread in the USAirways forum launched by www.iflyswa.com due to unsubstantiated claims about the liquidation and ultimate demise of USAirways.

Secondly, I have already requested consultation with the other three Delta forum moderators and await their responses. The fate of this thread is pending our discussion and research pertaining to it.

In the meantime, as much as I eschew locking threads, I am temporarily locking this one until further notice.
