True, there is some value. Specifically on longer flights. And if you're trying to sleep PY is always better. But IMO PY is only >> Y when Y is packed.

Just the seat angle of recline and width is worth PY in any seat Then you get better meals, real silverware and disembark faster to rush to customs, front washroom, etc
The recline is worth it if you need to sleep, true. There is no difference in available bathrooms between PY and Y. And "better meals" is not saying much; the food is marginally better.

If it is, Amadeus automatically blocks seats next to status passengers (based on rules set by the airline), and only releases those seats when the flight fills up and the airline need those seats. Another consequence of Theoretical Seating is that every frequent flyer who looks at a seat map will see different availability based on their status level. Higher the status, the more seats that you’d see as available — even paid seats. I know that LH, LO, and BA (at the very least) use Theoretical Seating, but have not seen it mentioned here.
There’s lots of discussion on Theoretical Seating on the BA board — worth searching and reading about it if there’s a chance that AC is using it now too.
I checked myself and my better half in today, we're on different tickets but the same flights tomorrow and SE me and zero status her saw the same seat maps.
