GRU Run - How long does a Brazilian Visa really take to get?

Anyone recently been through GIG or GRU on a Canadian passport?

The Brazilian consulate in Toronto say they need 10 business days to process a tourist visa -- is this a conservative guideline only or does it really take that long? It is a real pain not having a passport for that length of time....
