Wonder how many people are actually invited each night. I figured we had zero chance at getting invited as first-timers staying on points with no special occasion. Diamond status wouldn't mean anything when everyone there is presumably either Gold or Diamond.

I agree it sucks, but it's hard to eat dinner without water. They'll probably bring out a 750mL Evian bottle ($12) for a party of 2-4 adults, 500mL AquaPanna bottle ($7) if you're solo or dining with 1 child. At the very least, turn down the Evian and ask for the smaller one instead. For 2 people, that is enough to provide 2 glassful to each person, since they give you glasses with ice. You're already saving >$6 right there after tax/svc.
