Indeed terrible. Especially you have to do one night booking at a time due to points balance or certificate availability in your account. I highly doubt everyone will spend that much on incidental per night.
The other questions are does the charge come from Conrad Maldives itself (so it will trigger the Amex aspire resort credit)? And how soon will the deposit actually be charged? Right at booking or few days or weeks later?
And most importantly, how soon will one get it refunded if the booking is cancelled?
