Day 4: Asheville Brewery Tour

After spending a day with family enjoying family and more turkey and sides than my body could handle, we headed up to Asheville to check out a few breweries. Asheville has quickly become a hotspot for breweries and while I had been to all of these prior, it was fun being able to show them to my GF and the rest of the family. Plus, my Tigers were playing that night and what better way to prepare for football than a couple of beers and some food. After getting the rental car game day ready, we headed up I-26 for the first stop of the day.

New Belgium Brewing
Asheville, NC

Our first stop of the day was at New Belgium. While much smaller than the flagship brewery in Fort Collins, the Asheville location is located in a great area just outside of downtown overlooking the French Broad River. We grabbed a few flights to share amongst the group and sat outside enjoying the weather. Though it was overcast it was still a great day to be outside as the temps were mild and a nice breeze was blowing.

The brewery had a few food trucks on property as they don't serve any food in house so of course I had to try the grilled cheese truck, after all, it is made with love. It even came with a Tootsie Roll!

I also made sure to wear my very subtle sweater showing my allegiance.

After a stroll around the grounds and a quick pit stop at the gift shop we were on our way to stop number 2.

Wicked Weed Brewing
Asheville, NC

Our next stop was at Wicked Weed which was the first brewery I went to on my original Asheville trip. They have been expanding rapidly (they just opened a new location in CLT's Terminal D) which I think is due to the fact that they were bought by one of the major brewers, though I can't find anything definitive on that. They have a restaurant located upstairs that was on about a 45 minute wait when we were there as well as a outdoor patio located downstairs behind the brewery. We opted to spend the majority of our time in the downstairs portion. We spent a couple of hours here, mostly at the cornhole boards before heading off to our final stop.

One World Brewing
Asheville, NC

Our last stop was at One World, which is located down in the basement of an old building just off the main square. This wasn't a planned stop necessarily but the skies decided they were ready to open up as we were walking by and it was a nice place to wait out the rainstorm. The place had a great local vibe and definitely is a place that you wouldn't have stumbled upon unless you knew where to go. Also, while on the way I saw what was probably the most interesting pizza delivery vehicle I had ever seen.

I didn't see anything that jumped out at me so I had the Beermosa and told the bartender to surprise me. All in all a nice way to round out the day before heading home to watch some football!
