https://www.hotel1600.com/). I didn't actually know it was being flipped over to a Canopy so interesting to see. The old property is still taking reservations all through December (see aforementioned link), and recent TA reviews refer to the place as an active construction site. So, they're doing the renovation in situ and then they'll just flip the switch on the branding when it's all signed off. The good news would then be that you're not likely to get walked; the bad news is that you're likely to be in the middle of construction.
Personally, I like staying at *new* properties that are opening from scratch; while there might be some hiccups to work out they are generally on their best behavior. However, this isn't that - it's a renovation and rebrand, which isn't really the same.
Given that DC prices are usually at absolute rock bottom during the holidays (which makes it a fantastic time to visit), I'd spring for one of the more reliable options in the area rather than risk a subpar stay.
