I’m in an interesting situation. I’m booked on an E170. I cleared into C+ at the Gold window and got seat 5D. Then, they upgauged the aircraft to an E175 and I cleared into F into 4A. Then, they downgauged the aircraft back to an E170, and now I’m back in 4A in C+. However, I’m not on the upgrade list anymore. I tweeted Delta and was told that I already cleared into F and that I would get the next available F seat ahead of everyone on the upgrade list. Somehow that doesn’t sound right. I assume F is full? You may be a displaced F passenger which would place you ahead of everyone else on the F list though would also suggest you are due downgrade compensation if you don't get an F seat (which would seem unlikely since it was an upgrade).
This is why I never select row 4 on either the E175 or CR9 unless it's the only row available -- just in case they downgauge to the E170/CR7 (though you may not have had any other options when you were upgraded to F).
