Any departure is after 00:00/24:00 is considered as overnight transit and transit hotel would apply if the transit time is should there is one international segment.

Thanks for the link. I am not flying from the UK, so didn't root around their UK website. I went on their CN website, which was also the one that came up on google. Transit Hotel, Airport Transfer to Hotels Information - That site was less clear.

Flyertalk had reports of people suggesting a day hotel was not possible, so hopefully someone else might find this info useful.
