Your elite card won't help you through the security lines at PHL... there are no elite lines for the FL gates (nor others gates, AFAIK).
OK, here is another odd FL experience. Last week, again flying PHL-BOS, I checked in at the kiosk and proceed to my gate. I sat down in the gate area. The podium was unmanned 60 min before departure, but the sign clearly stated that the BOS flight is on time. Then a general PA announcement was made that the BOS flight has been cxld and to proceed to the ticket counter for reticketing. ALL screens still showed "on time," including those right next to the ticket counter. I skipped a long line at the ticket counter thanks to the empty elite queue. I asked the agent why they don't update the screens, and she told me they don't control them. I suggested that perhaps they should give a ring to those who do.
Anyhow, I got an FIM to US for a 6p flight, which was just a short delay from my original 530p. But I needed to take the FIM to US to get a boarding pass, then go through security, etc. I hustled, and due to the outrageously long security lines, I was very lucky to have SSSS on my bp. I went to the "special" security line and made the flight.
Anyhow, aside from some disorganization among the FL staff at PHL, the reason I am writing (and on this thread about strange FL policies/ill informed phone agents) is that when I called FL for "original routing credit" on my flight, I was denied by the phone agent. She seemed confused by my request, continuing to point out that I had not actually flown FL. I couldn't get the logic through to her (including the bit about the BOS-PHL promo) and so she finally passed me off to a supervisor. I spoke to the supervisor, who understood my logic (again, I had to point out "this is how the major airlines handle this"), but pointed out that it was not part of their protocol. However, she would give me the credit as a an exception.
I appreciated the "exception," but I find this another example of very odd treatment of FF by AirTran.
Is this really the policy, or was I again subjected to ill-informed agents? If the latter, there sure are a lot of them.
