I never understood these top xxx company ratings meant until I ended up in a senior management role in a small software company. Now I get junk mail all the time from magazines and others that for a small fee want to include us in such a ranking. The number of magazines and others who have such ranking, on condition of buying advertising etc. is amazing. I now trust none of these rankings in any industry.
Are the ranking true. Yes, What exactly the ranking means is a bit more open to interpretation.
