4 hours are more than sufficient for HKG connection. There's always one flight to rebook on from Suvarnabhumi (CX flies to Bangkok 8 times a day, that's a huge advantage) and you still won't miss connection.

One thing I have to guarantee is that protesters can't shut down HKG anymore.
