Any pointers on which car am I likely to get in that category with Avis? The current Holden Commodore ZB is fully imported from Germany, and is a badge-engineered Opel Insignia. Will be 4 or 6 cylinder front wheel drive

Camry & Commodore about the same: depends on the detail trim & engine. [A non hybrid Camry would be my choice]
Note if you are going across Cook Strait (Wellington Picton) normal practise is that you drop the car off at the ferry terminal and collect another car on the other side
