I was advised by Agoda two months ago that the property where I had prepaid had cancelled my reservation and they would refund the amount. There was then a lot of weasel words about how long this would take with nonsense about billing cycles etc. impacting when it would show up on my credit card. As it was a debit card ...
I contacted them recently, so we'll see where it goes, but I suspect the consumer protection laws of my country don't apply to international agencies such as Agoda
Update: contacted my bank and disputed the transaction after an "all care, no responsibility" reply from Agoda because the payment had been made to a third party
