This is outrageous -- and not something anyone would expect from a car rental company, much less when redeeming an award. When I saw that I was only getting half my points back on a cancellation, I called the Hertz Gold desk and they made a "one time exception" for me. But I did book a couple of other reservations during last month's sale. I wasn't 100% sure I'd use those reservations, but after years of booking car rentals, I know it's good to lock in a future reservation if you THINK you'll need it. But now you really don't want to do that with your Hertz points! I wonder why there's no outrage from this new policy. I now can't use my points unless I'm CERTAIN I'll be picking up the car. That's terrible. If this policy isn't changed, I will drain my Hertz account (with "last minute" reservations) and I'll be done with Hertz.
I went ahead and merged this post with a thread covering the changes.

Thanks
