Since the OP was flying EGLL-HECA on EgyptAir and AC is not the operating carrier, he should have been denied access at Heathrow. Seems like the Contract staff at Heathrow did (initially) refuse entry as per policy but after the OP (incorrectly) pushed, Heathrow staff relented.
Lounge access applies to itineraries which include flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Express
