Advance Upgrade from Premium Eco to Biz
Hi,
Just adding new data points on upgrade charts from Premium Economy to Business Class on the JFK-PAR route:
- Fare class "S" to "O" costs 15,000 miles
- Fare class "S" to "Z/Award" (only for FB Elite) costs 35,000 miles
- Fare class "W" to "O" costs 10,000 miles
- Fare class "W" to "Z/Award" costs 30,000 miles.
Once again, those "Upgrades in Advance" are still following fixed award charts, unlike the DoD promotional upgrades or the ones offered through the MMB, which are dynamically priced, based on supply/demand.
My company only allows me up to ~U.S.$2,200 R/T tickets for transatlantic flights to Paris. If I want to fly AF, I can only afford Premium Economy, but I can choose the "S" or the "W" fares.
When I called today the Plat line, they told me there were plenty of availabilities both in O and Z on the return flight, but nothing on the outbound flight, so I booked an S+W: the S will allow to upgrade should AF release an O fare, while the W fare (allowed by my company) made me disburse only 10,000 miles to upgrade immediately to business class since the inventory was O8 and Z/2.
I believe 10,000 miles for upgrade on one leg is an amazing price!
However, AF increased the cost from W to Z/Award: earlier this year, I used to pay 22,500 miles, while it is now 30,000 miles. Huge price increase to my opinion.
Cheers,
