You do get the 300 credit when you open your account or PC change to it. I did a PC change last week and it shows I have $300 credits available to use until 12/2020.
Thanks, good to know. The website isn't clear when it states:
"$300 Annual Travel Credit
Automatically receive up to $300 in statement credits as reimbursement for travel purchases charged to your card each account anniversary year."
