Hi All,
I've run into something that was new to me and quite frustrating. I had called in to see about using my GUF2 for just myself on an upcoming flight BOM to YYZ r/t.
I was quoted 1700 CAD for the change from PE to CW. Where I'm personally playing for this flight I declined. However, the amount seemed high for taxes. So I went into my PE booking and compared to the pricing of an I class fare' taxes, which is what my GUF2 was using and the difference in taxes came out to about 100.00 dollars.
I called BA to ask about this. The first agent I spoke with was investigating it when our call was dropped so I called in again. The second agent went ahead and manually calculated and got the same number as I. So I said yes let's book it.
Then a message popped up on her screen with notes from the previous agent. The previous agent had been in touch with the fare department and their explanation was that BA charges taxes based on the highest fare class in the cabin on is upgrading to.
ugh. LOL.
Now this really didn't seem fair as the GUF2 terms and conditions says that the passenger is reasonable for the taxes and fees associated with the upgraded fare. In this case the fare is I; but they are charging taxes for J.
The second agent was sympathetic and said she saw how this was not fair, she offered to check in with someone else. While she was off doing that we were disconnected again.
I've since called in a third time and the agent again was very helpful. She went and consulted with Agent #2 and returned to say they'd call me back as they are trying to work this out.
I'm usually good with fees etc. however, this seems an overreach even for BA
Has anyone encountered this same challenge? What was their solution?
Thanks all.
