The reuseable materials are presumably washed in very, very hot water before being shipped back out. So, pay someone to drive it all to a facility, using fuel to get there, pay someone to wash it with water which is not likely to come from a pressurized hot spring, pay someone to drive it back and restock the airport. Don't forget that each of those people have to somehow get to and from their place of work.

Properly recyclable and recycled materials make all the sense in the world and it is a fallacy that the rest is better.

I prefer the properly wrapped single use materials because it does not really matter who and where they were touched.
