This is my first post to the forum but I have been following some valuable threads for the amazing info and great knowledge.

I have an upcoming trip from BKK to SFO on January 14, 2020 ticketed by United. The first segment from BKK to HKG will be operated by Hong Kong Airline with a departure time at 4 AM. The second segment from HKG to SFO will be on UA metal at 12:20 PM. I have the following questions:
1. Will HX transfer the check-in luggage to UA in HKG? I called the United 1K line and the representative couldn't find the answer from the handbook but she believed that HX will do the transfer since it is a codeshare flight with United. However, I am not sure if it is a United flight given that the reservation on the United page states HX 780 instead of the standard codeshare flight number starting with UA. On the top of the United reservation page, I was given the Air China confirmation number.

2. When will the Hong Kong Airline counters open in BKK? The departure time of my flight from BKK will be at 4 AM and I remember that HX has an earlier flight from BKK to HKG at 3:20 AM. ...
