My question is, will our checked baggage need to be picked up at ATL or does it stay with Delta and we don't see it until we get to NAS? We don't want to pick it up in ATL and drag it around all day with us as we are going on a college tour.
Thank you!
My experience with this is that if the system auto short-checks only to ATL, you might need to get a supervisor/red coat/more experienced agent to "through check" it to NAS. It can be done and follows policy since it is less than 12 hours. You just might have to ask and politely push for it. Recently I had a 6 hr 30 min connection where there was no issue, but on an 8 hr 45 min connection I had to get a red coat at check in. Phraseology that might help the agent is "modify baggage destination." Apparently that is an option in their system.
