Question Does an Intermediate SUV really hold less than a FCAR?

Hey experts,

My daily driver is a very compact car. I'm looking at renting a car simply to schlep between the airport and hotel, and a bit of other stuff w/easy parking. - but it's going to be a 2 hour drive each way.

I've got 3 large suitcases (24-26"), stroller, a car seat, me+another adult+toddler, and maybe 3 carryon backpacks. Maybe some more.

A full size car and intermediate suv from Budget will cost almost the same. The reference cars are Ford Fusion vs Ford Escape.

The Budget website says that the Full Size is good for 2 large bags and 2 small bags, the Intermediate SUV is good for 1 large bag and 1 small bag. Is this true? I'd just assume that the Intermediate SUV can carry more.

For my scenario, should I get a Full Size car?
