You may want to look at the main Connections thread, this is a point that several of us often make. Those in Flight Connections may be unfamiliar with European standards of security, whereas those in the main security stream are likely to have lived with the current restrictions, which have barely changed in the last 12 years.

In that thread, the suggestion that I've made there is that if you are able to use the e-gates, have an hour or so before your next flight and in particular if you have either Fast Track or the First Wing access, you're probably best going landside, particularly up until about 14:30 hrs.
