There were plenty of choices with at least one (Y/W/J) seat available on most (/all?) services on the dates in question (early next year). Also quite a bit of availability on SIN and KUL (admittedly not as much as BKK). DPS is more challenging, especially in J since it is a longer flight.
Indeed RJ is usually quite available. But I live in HKG and getting into BKK at 23:20 to go to a hotel or travel to Hua Hin or Pattaya is very inconvenient.
Again, I search regularly as I am looking at short holidays througout the year. My family also has MPC (CS) account so that I can check what they get as well the the typical TPE-HKG-BKK on avios. There was a week in October as well as early November with avios availability on CX. But none from 10 November to late January. And I check regularly.
I am surprised that you found availability in early January. I can see none.
Maybe it is related to where my BAEC account is based. Would you mind sharing where your BAEC is based and when you found most services available? That would help. Thank you.
