I did wind up staying at the Double Bay and it was great, even though they were dealing with some issues. The pool was closed due to some repairs that needed to be made, and massive thunderstorms forced them to close the entire roof for a large part of our stay. Despite that, the staff was warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful. I had a lot of 4am conference calls with the US that week. I came down to the lobby so as not to disturb my sleeping partner; the staff set me up in the lounge, brought me a stream of flat whites (with the little cookies on the side!) and generally made sure that I was well taken care of. And they even comped the coffee in the end, which was kind of them. It was a great way to experience a different neighborhood in Sydney. I'd definitely stay here again.
