I much prefer the Galleria area.

The Ice rink is open all year.

Although I like Dallas I wouldn’t go for a day trip, I hate that busy road.
San Antonio might be ok for you.

There is an entertainment/amusement area in the direction of Galveston, the name of which escapes me right now!
