here's a tip.
when a TSU-ed reservation shows only the standard room at Hyatt.com, any time you receive a new automated "Hotel Name - Change - John Doe" email, it is highly likly the local hotel block into the standard suite will be lost. so, upon receiving such an email (like when changing the number of guests, locking in a lower rate, even making certain minor requests like bed-type or early arrival), be sure to reach out to your concierge, twitter, or better-still the hotel directly to reblock the standard suite.
an excellent concierge, like my Val B, knows the proper way to TSU is to show the standard suite as the room type in central reservations. this should be done in all cases where your chosen rate plan for the standard room also has a filed rate for the standard suite. the concierge first changes the room type and rate to the standard suite under the chosen rate plan, then the concierge manually overwrites the rate. this is not possible on all-points rate plan and on certain corporate rate plans where the hotel is only offering the corporate rate for standard rooms.
so, an excellent concierge can really reduce the potential risk down to just TSU's on all-points and certain corporate rate reservations. concierge can't eliminate all risk.
