On one very windy night in LHR, a piece of steps that failed to be secured flew into a 787, then ricocheted across a ground power unit and then smashed itself in the windscreen of a pushback tractor. Incidentally all those things were the last models of their kind; the only one to escape unscathed was a Vestergaard deicing rig which was then promptly bashed into a lamppost by somebody later on the day.
Bottom line: if there’s a way, any way, for things to go spectacularly wrong in the business... they will!
